Earthquake sensor for fail safe application

This customer is a builder of mobile energy generators that generate energy/electricity by the use of hydrogen. These generators are built in (sea) containers and used worldwide in places where there is no energy supply.
Earthquakes are a serious threat to hydrogen generators, because they can cause an explosion of the generator. That is why this customer is searching for a sensor solution that can detect earthquakes and shut down the generator in order to guarantee safety.
Up until now there was no sensor solution that fit his measurement needs. He asked the engineers at Althen to develop a measurement solution for this specific challenge.
Developing a sensor that can determine the difference between a special vehicle that is passing by and an earthquake. The sensor should be able to shut down the generator when an earthquake occurs.
Althen accepted the challenge and turned this measurement challenge into a sensor solution. This measurement solution uses the adjustable parameters like amplitude acceleration and the direction of the vibration, peak detection etc. to determine if an earth quake has occurred.
This advanced system knows the difference between a heavy vehicle and an earthquake. If an earthquake is detected the relays will shut down the regenerator.
