Load moment protection (LMB) of the crane

To guarantee the safety of the crane, the load and especially of the operator and bystanders, most cranes have a Load Moment Protection (LMB). The LMB ensures that the crane is not overturned or overloaded. An LMB system consists of various sensors, a computer for processing and a display for displaying the data.

Common sensors in the LMB system of (mobile) cranes are load cells, pressure transducers, draw wire transducers and inclination sensors. Load cells (or load pins) can be used for direct load measurements by recording the weight of the load. The pressure in the top cylinder can be measured with a pressure sensor and, in combination with the length and angle of the mast, the load-moment-calculation can be made.

Load moment protection (LMB) of the crane

The computer processes signals from the sensors to calculate the current load and Safe Working Load and displays this data to the operator. The LMB system then issues a warning when the load approaches the current maximum workload and will disable or limit the functions to safe movements if the current maximum workload is exceeded.

To guarantee safety, we only supply the best, highest quality sensors for cranes and LMB systems.
