About the FDIMR-L BT Back-to-Back Gauge
The FDIMR-L-BT back-to-back distance measuring gauge is designed for accurate inspection of railway, metro and tram wheelsets. It measures the back-to-back distance directly on rolling stock during check-up, examination, repair and wheelset formation.
The measurement method is based on direct distance measurement with an integrated laser triangulation sensor. With a measurement range of 1340–1610 mm, or custom ranges on request, and a measurement error of ±0.2 mm, the gauge supports reliable wheelset inspection in railway maintenance environments.
Usage conditions
The gauge is placed on the inner surface of the wheel using a magnetic support. Measurements can be performed directly on the rolling stock without rolling out the wheelset. The system supports single measurements and measurements with averaging to reduce the influence of surface defects.
The manual mentions PDA operation, but for Althen this is replaced by Bluetooth connection to smart devices for digital measurement workflows.
