Althen Sensors & Controls raised money for the Prinses Máxima Centrum

In October 2022, employees from Althen Sensors, Metesco and Relli Technology participated in the various distances of the Amsterdam Marathon to raise money for the Prinses Máxima Centrum. After months of intensive training and preparation, we managed to raise money for charity.

During December 2022, we handed over a € 15,000,- cheque on behalf of the three companies to the Prinses Máxima Centrum for Paediatric Oncology, where groundbreaking and passionate collaboration takes place every day to improve the survival rate and quality of life of children with cancer. Not only at the present moment, but also in the future. The money will be used to support and improve patient care and treatment.

Cheque for the Prinses Máxima Centrum

The presentation of our contribution almost coincided with a major national fundraising campaign, Mission 538, by a Dutch radio station to raise money for the centre. The proceeds of this campaign will be used to build clean rooms at the Máxima in which children's immune cells are programmed to attack cancer. At the time in December, however, we did not think it was very elegant to announce something about the sporting achievements and our collection at the same time as the big national Mission. In October 2022, we participated in the various distances during the Amsterdam Marathon. In the months before, not only did everyone train under supervision, but also raised money for the Prinses Máxima Centrum.

Our Amsterdam Marathon participation

Participation in the marathon and our fundraiser were encouraged and supported by Althen's management. Management was extermely proud of everyone's efforts and their contribution to the Prinses Máxima Centrum. For some runners, the annual Dam to Dam Run in September was the ultimate test to see how things would go from a sportive perspective. The Amsterdam Marathon was not only a challenge for the Althen participants, but the great mutual enthusiasm and joint training sessions were very contagious. For a long time, everyone left things off, denied things, and outdid themselves.

Our plans for 2023

In the autumn of 2023, we want to renew our commitment to a sporting challenge linked to a beautiful, good cause. Internally, thoughts are turning to different challenges and different charities. Perhaps we will pair it with one of our sponsored student contributions. Since we want to pop again in the autumn of 2023, we will start deciding on this at the beginning of the second quarter.
