Expansion of the linear and rotary position sensor range

News article
New position sensors, all datasheets, broader series coverage, same unrivaled performance

We’re proud to announce a major update to our inductive linear and rotary position sensor portfolio at Althen Sensors & Controls — featuring completely revised datasheets and expanded coverage of 14 inductive sensor series, including both linear and rotary variants across seven key sensor families.

This enhancement ensures faster product selection, better integration support, and greater transparency for engineers, product developers, and procurement teams across all industries.

What is an “inductive” position sensor, and why does it matter?

These positon sensors use a proprietary non-contact inductive technology, but what exactly does that mean. Unlike conventional LVDTs or potentiometers, the sensors:

  • Operate using a solid-state coil and microelectronic system to measure movement
  • Have no moving electrical contacts, reducing wear and increasing lifespan
  • Provide a true linear output without the need for external signal conditioning
  • Offer a compact form factor with full customization options

This makes the inductive position feedback sensors ideal for high-cycle, high-vibration, or mission-critical applications where reliability is essential. With the updated ranges and documentation, selecting the right sensor has never been easier. This sensor technology and new ranges offer:

  • Longer lifespan
  • Intrinsic safety options
  • Custom stroke lengths

Understanding these series at a glance

  • P series: High precision, general-purpose use. Designed for explosive environments, such as oil & gas, mining, or chemical processing. Fully compliant with ATEX / IECEx standards and available in submersible versions.
  • S series: Submersible (IP68-rated) for underwater & hydraulic applications. These sensor offer a rugged, standard option with a wide range of output choices.
  • E series: Compact, cost-effective OEM integrations. The E-Series is perfect for OEMs needing cost-optimized, compact form factors.
  • G series: Versatile with wide custom options
  • H series: Heavy-duty environments (shock, vibration, heat)
  • M series: Modular design for quick customization
  • X series: ATEX / IECEx certified for hazardous areas. Fully sealed and ideal for hydraulic actuators, marine systems, and defense. Excellent shock and vibration resistance, with long life expectancy.
