CTELA Series for measuring the thermal expansion coefficient
Precise measurement of the linear thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) of metals, plastics, and other materials.
Key features
- Determination of the linear expansion coefficient of a material from the temperature and strain slope between two points
- Strain gauge with temperature-compensated material adjusted to 0×10-6/℃
- CE marking compliant
- Stress strain measurement is possible
About the CTELA Series strain gauges
The CTELA Series strain gauges are specifically designed for accurate measurement of the coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CTE) in metals, plastics, and various substrates. With a temperature-compensated backing material set to 0×10⁻⁶/°C, these gauges simplify the calculation of expansion coefficients without requiring complex correction methods.
Ideal for applications where thermal strain must be separated from mechanical strain, such as in material testing, electronics development, or quality assurance. The gauges also allow precise detection of total strain (mechanical + thermal) in components like PCBs or composite materials.
Key Benefits of the CTE Series:
- Temperature compensation adjusted to 0×10⁻⁶/°C for high accuracy
- Easy calculation of thermal expansion using a simple formula
- Suitable for a wide range of materials and temperature ranges
- Available with multiple backing materials (e.g. PI, phenolic resin, epoxy)
- Compatible with standard bonding techniques
Typical Applications:
- Measuring thermal expansion of materials under heat load
- Development of temperature-sensitive components
- R&D test setups in electronics, aerospace, and automotive industries
- Long-term monitoring in climate chambers and thermal cycling tests
