The SE2400081 propeller shaft earthing brush is designed for use in marine shaft earthing systems. It maintains electrical contact with the silver track of the slipring while the propeller shaft rotates.
The brush consists of 80% silver and 20% graphite. The high silver content supports good electrical conductivity and low contact resistance. The graphite contributes to the brush’s wear characteristics and allows it to move smoothly over the rotating contact surface.
The performance of a propeller shaft earthing system depends on stable contact between the brushes and the slipring. The SE2400081 provides a controlled path for electrical current from the rotating propeller shaft to the ship’s hull.
This helps reduce the potential difference between the shaft and the hull. It also helps protect shaft bearings, gearboxes and other propulsion components against spark erosion and damage caused by electrical discharge.
Two SE2400081 earthing brushes are used in the 8047A propeller shaft earthing set. They are installed in the SE2100045-2 double-balancing brush holder and run over the solid silver contact track of the slipring.
The combination of two high-silver-content brushes, adjustable brush pressure and a silver contact track supports consistent electrical continuity and reliable performance in marine propulsion systems.
