The SE2100045-2 shaft earthing brush holder is an important component of the Althen propeller shaft earthing system. It holds the earthing brushes against the silver contact track of the slipring while the propeller shaft rotates.

The brush holder is designed for use with two SE2400081 silver graphite brushes. These brushes contain 80% silver and provide a low-resistance electrical connection between the rotating propeller shaft and the ship’s hull.

Double-balancing design with pressure adjustment

The double-balancing construction helps both brushes maintain stable contact with the slipring. This supports reliable electrical continuity when the propeller shaft is rotating and compensates for small variations in the contact surface.

The brush pressure can be adjusted to achieve suitable contact between the brushes and the slipring. Correct pressure helps maintain electrical performance while limiting unnecessary brush wear.

The SE2100045-2 brush holder is designed for use as part of the 8047A propeller shaft earthing set. The brush holder is connected to the ship’s hull by an earthing cable. The brushes then transfer electrical current from the silver track of the slipring to the hull.

This controlled current path helps prevent harmful potential differences and reduces the risk of spark erosion in propeller shaft bearings and other propulsion components.
