About the FPRP Portable Laser Rail Profilometer

The Rail profile measuring gauge is a portable laser developed for contactless analysis of rail head profile and measurement of rail wear parameters. To convert and visualize the measured data, the measuring gauge connects to a PDA. The rail profile measuring set includes database software and a PDA. Wear range from -5.0 up to 14.0mm (vert), -5.0 up to 18.0mm (lat) and up to 14.0mm (reduced).

Operation

Operator mounts the laser scanning module onto the railhead to be measured.
After receiving a command from PDA or PC, the laser module performs a non-contact measurement of the rail surface. Measurement results (geometric parameters and profile of the surface) are displayed on PDA, these can be saved in the PDA memory and transferred to the PC database. Simultaneously, additional parameters can be saved: date, operator number, permanent way division, track number, rail type, etc.
