Performance

The ASC IMU 8 is a tactical grade inertial measurement unit (IMU) based on proven MEMS capacitive accelerometers and vibrating ring gyroscopes. It provides highly precise measurements of linear acceleration and angular rate across six degrees of freedom. With accelerometer ranges up to ±30 g and gyroscope ranges up to ±400 °/s, the ASC IMU 8 combines excellent long-term stability with very low noise. Bias stability is <45 µg for accelerometers and <0.1 °/hr for gyroscopes, with angular random walk <0.01 °/√hr, enabling fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG)-like performance.

Usage conditions

The unit features a compact anodized aluminum housing with IP65 protection, making it suitable for harsh environments. It operates from −40 °C to +85 °C and withstands shocks up to 1,000 g. Power supply is flexible (8–30 VDC), with low current consumption (<120 mA). The detachable 15-pin connector cable offers customization in length and connector type.
