Draw wire sensor
Draw wire sensors are also called string pot sensors, spring potentiometers, draw wire encoders or draw wire rotation sensors.
Reliable operation and long service life
Draw-wire sensors measure linear motion using a draw-wire that is wound and unwound on a drum equipped with a spring. The wire drum is connected to a sensor or encoder, which provides a proportional output signal (displacement). The end of the wire is attached to the measuring object. If the distance between the measuring object and the sensor changes, the drum will rotate. This rotational movement is converted into an electrical signal via the potentiometer.
