Standard strain gauges
Standard strain gauges are thin, flexible sensors used to measure mechanical strain or deformation in an object. They are commonly applied to different materials and structures to detect changes in length, deformation or bending.
1. Construction & design
F-Series GOBLET strain gauges
- Special design with integrated lead wires.
- Lead wires are pre-attached at the factory, saving installation time and improving reliability.
- Particularly suitable for applications with limited accessibility or where pre-assembled leads are required.
F-Series metal foil strain gauges (standard)
- Conventional construction featuring a copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) metal foil measuring grid and a specially designed polymer backing.
- Lead wires generally need to be soldered separately, unless a special option is selected.
- Greater flexibility for integration, for example in applications requiring custom geometries.
2. RoHS compliance & soldering
GOBLET
- Supplied with lead-free soldering as standard, making them RoHS 2 compliant without additional options.
- Ideal for applications with strict environmental requirements or international compliance requirements.
Standard F-Series
- Can also be supplied in a lead-free, RoHS-compliant version with Option F.
- Without Option F, solder joints may contain lead.
3. Ease of installation
GOBLET
- Designed for quick and straightforward installation, reducing potential connection errors.
- Particularly suitable for repeated measurements, time-sensitive applications and situations where cable quality is critical.
Standard metal foil strain gauges
- Greater flexibility in selecting cable lengths, connection methods and gauge configurations.
- Well suited for customized research and development applications.
