About the FDIMR Back-to-Back Gauge
The FDIMR back-to-back distance measuring gauge is designed for measuring the back-to-back distance of railway, metro and tram wheels during inspection, repair and wheelset formation. Measurements are made directly on rolling stock without rolling out the wheelset.
The measurement principle is based on direct distance measurement using a contactless laser sensor. With a measurement range of L ±25 mm and a measurement error of ±0.1 mm, the FDIMR supports accurate and repeatable wheelset inspection.
Usage conditions
The gauge is placed between the wheels, with the ball support positioned against the wheel surface and the side supports adjacent to the wheel flanges. The system supports single measurements and averaging measurements to reduce the influence of surface defects.
For the Althen version, PDA-based wording is obsolete. Measurement data is handled via Bluetooth connection to smart devices for digital workflows.
