New Digital Ruby Sensors from Jewell

News article

Jewell is expanding its portfolio with the new Digital Ruby accelerometers and inclinometers. The new generation of digital MEMS sensors combines high measurement performance, robust design and flexible connectivity options, replacing several existing Jewell sensor series.

With the new Digital Ruby Series, Jewell introduces an advanced generation of digital MEMS-based accelerometers and inclinometers. The new models have been developed for applications that require reliable measurement data, high robustness and easy system integration.

The Digital Ruby sensors replace the previous JDI, DMH, DML, DMS and DKA series. According to the manufacturer, they offer at least equivalent or improved performance. Key improvements include a faster frequency response and higher resolution.

Robust sensor design with IP67

For use in demanding environmental conditions, the Digital Ruby sensors feature IP67 protection. They are also designed to withstand shock loads of 180 g for 0.011 seconds, half-sine.

Users can choose between DB9 and M12 connectors. This allows the sensor series to be flexibly integrated into different machines, vehicles, test benches and measurement systems. Internal temperature compensation also helps ensure stable measurement performance under changing environmental conditions.

Easy integration into existing applications

When developing the Ruby Series, integration into existing designs was also taken into account. The mounting configuration matches that of the previous JDI sensor, while the dimensions differ only slightly. This can make the transition to the new sensor generation particularly straightforward for existing applications.

New Ruby accelerometers and inclinometers

With the Digital Ruby JDHA, Jewell is also introducing a new digital accelerometer. The product family therefore expands the available options for precise acceleration and inclination measurement.

The sensors are tested in dedicated test chambers and supplied with a calibration report. According to Jewell, the MTBF is 1.8 million hours. The Digital Ruby sensors also come with a 3-year warranty.

Improved performance with an attractive price/performance ratio

In addition to the technical improvements, the price/performance ratio is another key advantage of the new series. The Digital Ruby sensors are designed to provide comparable or better performance than the previous models while also being more economical. This makes the new sensor family particularly suitable for developers and design engineers looking for a robust digital MEMS solution with high measurement performance and flexible interfaces.
